Complete Management Of The Picking Process
Flexible pick job creation allows warehouse managers to direct
picks to specific users or groups based on individual requirements.
This allows for better management and optimisation of picking
routines. For shift patterns where management are not present
the system can intelligently automate picks based on previous pick
knowledge. The system will cross against real-time stock levels,and
will verify any rules or bay constraints against pick
lists to ensure that only suitable users receive directed picking
instructions.
Once a pick list has been allocated to a user the products on the
pick are effectively 'locked'. The system status is immediately
updated to show the products as being allocated so other users
cannot select them. The WMS provides many advanced pick options
such as 'priority picks' where a vital order must be despatched
before all other orders, or FIFO picks to ensure efficient stock
rotation.
Cross Docking
Cross docking is where products are unloaded from the end of
production or delivery vehicles and moved directly into despatch,
therefore eliminating storage costs and speeding up the ordering
process. The WMS also facilitates open picks or 'load and go'
where products can continue to be added to a pick right up to the
point of despatch. This is especially useful for firms
manufacturing their own products on-site to fulfill demand or for
just in time (JIT) orders.
Bill Of Materials (BOM)
If an order line contains a BOM the system will determine the
individual components or products required to assemble the final
product and will direct picking accordingly. Even complex BOMs are
presented to picking staff in an easy to assemble order. One of the
major benefits of the Jatech WMS is that multiple staff can
pick a BOM concurrently, assembling the picked items into
the same despatch bay.
Despatch
The despatch process can be managed through use of uniquely
identified despatch locations or holding bays. Despatch bays and
even courier vehicles can be identified for full track and trace.
The system can automatically generate all necessary shipping
paperwork including calculated fields based on the pick such as
freight weight, furthering increasing employee productivity.
All scanner operations are logged in the system and can be
viewed by management for auditing or staff training purposes.
